Guild Wars 2 Item Upgrade
The process of upgrading an item, often known as "upping," improves an item's stats. Each upgrade increment boosts a stat linearly.
Players can recycle up to six items at a time to gain an indicator of the level of the upgraded components. The cost of recycling items scales depending on their rarity and level.
Upgrade components

Most upgrade components slotted into items cannot be repaired or replaced without dismantling the gear in question, unless it is legendary equipment and upgrades. However, if you have a non-useful rune or glyph that hasn't yet been applied to your gear, you can move it to another piece of equipment by utilizing the upgrade Glyphs context menu in the Glyphs panel. This will create an entirely new Glyph Set with the selected glyph.
If you want to remove a glyph from a piece of, you will need to salvage it using an Black Lion Salvage Kit or Ascended Salvage Tool. The item on which the glyph is installed will be destroyed, however the upgraded item can be recovered with the glyph shards.
