In addition to increasing the item level of a weapon an upgrade can also grant it additional stats that can be used to boost its power. Some of these enhancements will be purely passive while others can provide greater damage, faster attack speed as well as increased range or strike chance.

Certain weapons can be upgraded to a higher level with an Ashes of War weapon, which rewards you for defeating certain raid bosses. Other upgrades can be added to weapons with Whetblades which are rare items that allow you to unlock new Affinities that you can infuse your weapon with.

A set piece is a crucial scene that raises the film and is remembered by the audience even after the credits have ended. Set pieces are employed in professional soccer to define the time when a ball is returned to the field by way of throwing-in, kick or any other formal method. Teams will utilize these situations to their advantage by setting up players in an area to receive the ball and requiring defenders to be alert and change their assignments accordingly. This could involve crossing, aerial duels or other types of deliveries and, of course, headed goals.

Upgrading, also known as upping as it is often called, is the process of changing a normal unique, set, or rare item into an elite version of the identical base item. This is accomplished by purchasing a component upgrade through the upgrade menu and then slotting it into an item that has been upgraded.

This will unlock the stats that were previously locked behind that base item's requirements, or maxed out version. These increased stats are what make the upgraded version of an item more valuable than its base counterpart. The maximum defense rolls and upgrade requirements for each upgraded version are listed in the table below.

Generally upgrading an item will increase its value but there are some exceptions. For example, if an item has intrinsically high requirements that limit its use (take Whistan's shield in FB sorcs as an example), or the item has a low base stat, which can be upgraded to an ideal or high roll, then it will only see limited usage and therefore gain only a small amount of value.
